Plänterwald district

The district of Plänterwald in Berlin Treptow is primarily known for the Spreepark. The estate was built according to the plans of architect Bruno Taut and was originally intended to house 1,500 apartments. However, only 127 apartments were actually built. The project had to be halted due to the First World War and financial problems. Nevertheless, the work was worthwhile. Today, the buildings of Gartenstadt Falkenberg are listed buildings and are part of the Unesco World Cultural Heritage of Berlin’s housing estates. The garden city takes its name from the hill on which it was built. It is an approximately 60-meter-high elevation, which the residents affectionately refer to as Buntzelberg. New housing estates are being built to the west of the Falkenberg. Apartments and detached houses are being built here, offering new families a wonderful place to live.

Neighborhood conservation areas in Treptow

The German capital is known for its neighborhood conservation areas. Treptow is not excluded from this regulation, which aims to preserve the cityscape.
